Herdade da Pangea is blessed with rolling hills, dams and streams, grasslands, woodland and scrub, but its diverse habitats have been degraded by intensive cattle grazing and eucalyptus cultivation.

 

By allowing nature to recover, we can create a healthy, balanced ecosystem that will benefit native flora and fauna as well as resident elephants.  

 

Coupling the principles of rewilding with land management practices - such as rotation and low elephant stocking densities - will help to increase biodiversity, improve soil quality, and reduce erosion and habitat degradation. 

 

Every aspect of Pangea’s operations will be as sustainable as possible, from the recycling of elephant manure through to the responsible use of natural water supplies and the sourcing of local, renewable building materials.
