The Great Elephant Migration arrives in Newport USA

This summer will see a one hundred strong herd of life-size elephant sculptures begin a year-long tour of the United States, starting in Newport. This ‘Great Elephant Migration’ was created by UK based non profit Elephant Family and helps generate crucial fundraising for wildlife and biodiversity.

“The sculptures were crafted by the Coexistence Collective, a community of indigenous Indian artisans spanning four tribes: Bettakurumba, Paniya, Kattunayakan, and Soliga. Each elephant was modelled after a real life elephant and made using dried Lantana Camara, an invasive weed that threatens protected areas in India.”
We’re thrilled to see these beautiful elephant sculptures drawing attention to the real-life magnificent pachyderms. We look forward to seeing more coverage of this inspiring event later this summer.
