A research paper released recently has discovered that African elephants address each other with individual, specific calls – much like how humans use names – to address each other when they interact and communicate.

We all now know, and are beginning to truly understand the highly intelligent, empathetic, and sentient nature of elephants and this study goes even further to highlight another way in which these awesome mega herbivores are unique among the animal kingdom and deserve the space and freedom to live with integrity and autonomy.
