We are so excited to share that Pangea has been handpicked as one of 22 charities to receive support from Ricky Gervais, with a donation of £100,000. Ricky has announced he is donating a total of £2.43m (£2,432,451 / $3,229,853) to animal charities worldwide, taken from the extra profits generated by the Platinum Ticket sales for his record-breaking 2024/25 Mortality stand-up tour.

The donation is a huge boost to fundraising efforts as we prepare to welcome our first elephants.  What’s more, it is an enormous honour to be included on Ricky’s roster. He is known to carefully consider and personally vet his donations, and his endorsement will encourage other prospective donors that they are investing in the right place.

On X he announced: “To celebrate my Mortality Tour, my Netflix Special, my Golden Globes nomination and the spirit of Christmas, I am donating £2.43m to animals. These are the lovely charities I’ve chosen. Merry Christmas critters.”

When asked about giving away such a huge amount of money, Ricky added: “My mum always used to say, ‘You can’t take it with you.’ No, I can’t mum. But I could’ve bought 30 speedboats and raced ‘em round the Med with my mates, off our heads on weed and Bollinger. Anyway. Too late now.”

The 5-times Golden Globes host, widely considered one of the most influential British comedians since Charlie Chaplin, has won countless awards and is an outspoken advocate for animals. His support shines a spotlight on the urgent need to rethink how elephants are treated in Europe and the importance of creating spaces where they can live more natural, fulfilling lives.
