Elephant rehomed to sanctuary from Zoo Knoxville

Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary

On 16th November Edie the African elephant arrived at Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary in the US, having been transported from Zoo Knoxville.

“In 2022, Zoo Knoxville shared the news that Edie, along with her herd mates at the zoo, would be relocating to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, including bull elephant Tonka in 2024. This move is aimed at addressing their individual and unique social needs as they continue to age.”

We wish Edie all the best for her new chapter and hope she’ll enjoy being a resident at the elephant sanctuary with access to vast areas of natural habitat after her years living in captivity.
