An elephant named Somboon who was captured as a calf and taken to a camp in Pattaya, Thailand where she was forced to give people rides every day for eighty years, has been rescued and rehomed at a sanctuary.

“Grandma SomBoon is radiant and content, enjoying her mud spa. It’s beautiful to witness her embracing her new sanctuary life with such joy and grace.” SomBoon will spend the twilight of her life enjoying nutritionally balanced food, pleasant strolls, and soothing mud baths at the rescue centre.

The above quote is taken from the original article in The Mirror, which you can read here.

We hope that Somboon thrives in her new habitat and can enjoy more freedom, compassion and dignity in her new home.
